For all our body’s function adequate water intake is essential and the more we drink, the better are our chances of staying thin. Water is as essential as air ( oxygen) to human life. The human body needs water in order to survive. Water makes up greater than 60% to 70% of the weight of the human body; the brain is 75% water, blood is 83% water, bones are 22% water, muscles are 75% water, the lungs are 90% water, kidneys are 83% water, liver 86%, skin 70%, connective tissue 60%
What will happen if water is less in our body?
Lack of water can lead to dehydration. Even mild dehydration – like 1 or 2% water loss of our body weight – can sap our energy and make us tired. Dehydration increases the risk for particular health conditions to the very young and the very old. Signs and symptoms of dehydration include:
- Excessive thirst
- Dry mouth
- Little or no urination
- Muscle weakness
- Light headedness
How Much & when to drink water?
No one can tell you exactly how much water you need, At the end of the day. This depends on individual needs.
We need to drink at least enough water daily to replace the water that our body normally loses through perspiration, waste removal, and other functions, there’s also certain times of day to drink (and not to drink) water, in order to maximize its effectiveness and reap all the health benefits
There are various studies showing different quantities required by body, what we have found out is ideally we should drink 1liter for every 20 kg .(e.g.. 80 kg needs 4liter)
But how to drink water is more important,
A common mistake that people make is gulping water, Lots of people drink more than 500ml or 1 liter of water at a time. Our kidneys cannot get rid of more than 800 ml to 1liter of water/hour. Additionally drinking more than 200 ml water at a time can give a tsunami-like effect in the body which will flush out not only toxins but vitamins and minerals from the body …
